TL/DR: Concrete sealant failed within one year, and manufacturer will not honor their warranty. Lots of stains, rude and dishonest treatment of customers. I followed all cleaning instructions from Concrete Works East to the letter, using a gentle cleanser regularly and keeping my surfaces well-cared for. Nevertheless, ring stains developed on my kitchen countertop, drip stains appeared in my bath, and a strange pink cast appeared on another sink. I contacted the manufacturer to request that they come take a look, remove the stains, and reseal the product, as should be protected by the warranty. They asked me to send photos, and assured me they would take care of it. This happened within the first six months of owning and using the product. I sent photos, and they agreed that they could see the issue and would get back to me shortly with when they or someone they trust could refinish it. The countertop was still within warranty, which covers "manufacturers defects" for up to one year. Considering this is a failure of the sealant, this would be likely considered a manufacturer's defect. After several weeks of not hearing from them, I followed up and I was told to contact a refinisher they recommended, and when I asked if that meant that they would be covering the bill and honoring their warranty, I received no response. The owners did not respond until pressed with several emails and phone calls, at which point they offered to cover only 50% of a resurfacing bill. I said that according to the warranty and previous discussions, they should cover the manufacturing defect of the sealant failing, and they should therefore pay 100%. They then called me and tried to bully me into taking their offer, and gave all kinds of non-sensical excuses as to why the stains weren't their fault (for example, trying to blame the pink cast that had developed on one of their sinks on hard city tap water--properly sealed concrete should be able to withstand normal water, and if it doesn't then it seems like maybe it isn't sealed correctly!). I stuck to my guns, explaining that the warranty is quite clear in that it should cover a manufacturer's defect. They became increasingly hostile when I said I was not interested in accepting 50% after how I had been treated thus far, and when I said I was done talking they said a slew of insults, then they asked me who I voted for in the 2020 election (a bizarrely political turn for concrete resurfacing), told me to "go ahead and write that negative review," and then hung up on me. They were unwilling to take responsibility for their product failing, and were upset that I was trying to hold them to what they promise their customers. It was quite an expensive job, so to have the product get so stained in such a short time and then be treated so rudely by the manufacturer for simply asking them to own up to their mistake was a huge let down. So this is just a warning to others who may consider working with them. Update 12/22: left a takeout bag on the counter for an hour. It was raining, so I guess the bag was wet. I lift it up to see this enormous purple stain on Concrete Works’ “sealed” countertops. This place is a horrible rip-off. Save yourself the pain.
